Hopefully you have seen the new GCSE Subject Content by now new GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition. This will replace GCSE Food Technology, Catering and Food and Nutrition from 2016 (first teaching) and 2018 will be the first examination. The awarding bodies are developing new specifications to meet these requirements.
OFQUAL and Department for Education are NOW seeking your views on the assessment model. Please note that there are new requirements for GCSE assessment, with the withdrawel of coursework for most subjects and the expectation of terminal examinations.The proposal includes 50% courswork and 50% examination – with tasks including a food science investigation and a cooking a three course meal at the end of the Year 11 course. What are your views? Will there be any issues for the delivery of this? Would you like to see any changes? Do you think they have got the assessment right?Please respond by 24th April.
